2008-01-31 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- This is a new organ. The Great, Pedal, and chamade are housed in a case on the front wall of the chancel. 7-sectional facade with 61 pipes arranged: 5-7-16-5-16-7-5. The Swell and Choir are in expressive chambers on either side of the chancel. Four ranks of the Austin were retained along with the added Echo division, the chimes, and the harp. The 1950 Reuter console was rebuilt and installed in the rear gallery with a slightly "abbreviated" stoplist. The organ arrived in Yakima on October 17, 1988. Installation was completed on November 1. Tonal finishing began on November 7 and lasted two weeks. The organ was first used for Thanksgiving Sunday on November 20, 1988. A special Dedication Service for the organ was held on December 4. The first recital was given by church organist Dr. Jon Waite on December 24 as a part of the 46th annual Carols and Candles service. The Dedicatory Recital was given by Frederick Swann on February 27, 1989. -Database Manager
