2010-06-29 - Updated through information posted to PIPORG-L by Jim Gallatin June 28, 2010: -- I play at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments in Norfolk, Virginia. [Apparently the apartments in the title comes from the Olivers putting Jewish families in town for a funeral up at their establishment - the local hotels would not take them in. I think that at one time there was also a Kosher kitchen.] It was established in 1865 (1 year after de waw). They buried all Catholics and all Jews in the City and surrounding area because no other Funeral establishment would take them. After WWII they got a Moeller organ. The Vox is in a box, but you have to also have to add the tremulant by hand. -Database Manager
2011-03-24 - Updated through on-line information from Dr. James A. Gallatin. -- Opus 6565 apparently was put in in 1939 - the building was put up in 1938. In 1949 Moeller added some stops? and called the organ Opus 6585. That is what is on the notice. BUT you can see that the first notice was a little large so there was a notice which was replaced with the 1949 one. -Database Manager
2016-10-02 - Opus 6565 was installed in 1937; it was 'overhauled' and the console repaired in 1949 as Moller Op. R-351, at which time a new 8' Flute 18-61 (44 pipes) was added, along with new 8' Open Diapason 1-12 pipes; the Clarinet and Vox Humana were revoiced. -Database Manager
