2008-10-20 - Identified through on-line information from Ken Garst. -- Hinners Opus 3037. Removed from Ascension Lutheran Church in Chicago in September 2008. The congregation disbanded in 1998, and the building and contents were sold to a private party. The owner removed the organ from the sanctuary and placed it in the basement so that the upper level could be refurbished. While in storage in the lower level, the console, blower and reservoir(s) were damaged by water and disposed of. I purchased the remainder of the instrument. The organ is 4 ranks - Unit Stopped Flute @ 18, 8, 4 and 2; Salicional at 8 and 4; 8' Open Diapason and 4' Octave (modfied Dulciana). Eleven of the lower 17 notes of the 8' Diapason were in the facade. There are also several non-speaking pipes in the facade. The facade was also saved from the water damage. Several pipes of the Salicional are damaged, but should be able to be repaired by a quality pipe shop. I will be sending them out to be repaired. The builder's plate was removed from the console before the console was disposed of, and it will be affixed to a new console. The goal is to rebuild and refurbish the remnants of this instrument and install it in my residence. It will be played from a Klann console acquired from a private party last year. The console is also undergoing complete refurbishment. -Database Manager
