2021-01-03 - The organ (referred to as a Chamber Organ) was noted to have 4,496 pipes. It was located in an oak pipe case and chambes behind it in the overhead gallery of one of WA Clark's 5 art galleries. The organ featured a unique "surround sound" system of hollow ducts designed to allow the sound to travel through them throughout the 5 galleries giving guests the feeling of being encapsulated within the music itself. Original cost of the organ at the time of building was $120,000.00 USD, which would be equivalent to around $3,000,000.00 USD in 2021. It has been noted that one of the most significant performances of this instrument ocurred alonside the visit of 200 members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir who sang a series of songs accompanied by the organ. ________ Source: Empty mansions : the mysterious life of Huguette Clark and the spending of a great American fortune; By: Bill Dedman; Published: 2013; ISBN: 9781782394761.
