2020-11-13 - From the NYC AGO NYC Organ Project: In 1912, Mrs. Charles Merrill built a beautiful chapel as a memorial to her husband. The windows and pipe organ were presented by her daughters, Miss Edith J. Merrill and Mrs. Antonio Fanoni, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill. The unique window, bits of colored glass shells and stones, were designed by the artist Cole Bryham. The chapel provided a dignified place to hold religious services and other formal meetings. The organ was built by M.P. Möller of Hagerstown, Md. The Agreement (Dec. 7, 1910) between Möller and Mrs. A. A. Merrill, Brooklyn, N.Y., states that Möller would build a two-manual organ with an Automatic Player for a consideration of $2,400. Möller was to install the organ "on or before the 16th day of April, 1911, or as soon thereafter as possible." The organ was shipped on March 16, 1912. -Jeff Scofield
