2010-01-21 - Identified through on-line information from James R. Stettner. -- According to the cinematreasures.org website, "Inside the hexagonal shaped lobby, there is a decorative metal open balcony surrounding the space, where in the early years, there was placed an Estay [sic] Minuette portable organ, which had 2 Manuals / 3 Ranks and was contained in a large grand piano case." Note: an extant photo of this organ in David Junchen's The Encyclopedia of the American Theate Organ, Vol. 1 (pg.108) shows it located on the lobby floor beside the right staircase going to the balcony. -Database Manager
2013-01-23 - Updated through online information from Jim Lewis. -- This organ was an Estey Minuette Grand - three ranks of pipes in a grand piano-style case. It was delivered to the Los Angeles Estey studio in 1929 and put on display at the Fox Wilshire Theatre in 1931. It was used to entertain patrons before and after film presentations, sometime with two or three other musicians performing along with the organ. The final destination of the organ is unknown. -Database Manager
