2010-04-23 - Updated through online information from Joseph Bertolozzi. -- This organ is obviously older than the existing building and is second-hand to the church. The original home of the organ is unknown, though though the idea has been floated that it may have come from the Presbyterian Church in Amenia. That Jardine organ is dated at ca. 1865 whereas according to "Historic Organs of Amenia, New York - An Historical Organ Recital" - The Organ Historical Society, Inc. - October 10, 1982," this organ is listed as ca. 1855.
The organ is in near-original shape. Except for the provision of electric blowing, there have apparently been no changes made to the instrument. It still retains the original gilding and stenciling on the pipes in the façade.
The keydesk projects from the case. The stop knobs are in unterraced jambs flanking the keyboard and have square shanks and flat faces lettered in a shaded Italic. The manual stop knobs have no pitch lengths. The six pipes in the outer flats are speaking pipes from the Montre. The pipes in the center flat are dummies. -Database Manager
