2012-06-10 - Identified through online information from Will Dunklin. -- The Century Theatre was built in 1909 as the New Theatre, at the time, one of the most palatial theatres in the country. Unfortunately, the theatre's acoustics were exceptionally poor, dooming the theatre to a succession of owners, all of whom lost money on the hall. The 2nd owner installed the Wurlitzer organ, but defaulted on payments. In 1914 the organ was repossessed by Wurlitzer and resold to the Criterion Theatre NYC opus 33. The Century Theatre was torn down in 1931. -Database Manager

Lawson, using information found in Junchen/Weiler: The WurliTzer Pipe Organ: An Illustrated History. -- This organ was repossessed about a year after its installation. In 1914, Wurlitzer moved the organ, as Op. 33, to the Criterion (Vitagraph) Theatre, adding a 32' Diaphone and 16' Trombone. -Database Manager
