2012-08-07 - Identified through online information from T. Daniel Hancock. -- In 1883, a committee was formed to hire an organist/choirmaster, and by 1886, an organ fund was established, and an instrument soon purchased soon thereafter. By 1898, a photograph "shows a small organ against the front Nave wall on the South/Epistle side of the church. Small gold, nonspeaking pipes forme a facade for this organ [The organ was moved to the present building from the Commerce Street location; as of 2010 the toe holes remain intact in the frame over the sacristy door.] -Database Manager

2012-08-08 - Updated through online information from T. Daniel Hancock. -- This organ was installed c. 1886 in the St. John Episcopal Church in Big Lick, Virginia, which would later become Roanoke. It was moved to the new church in 1892. -Database Manager
