2012-08-08 - Identified through online information from T. Daniel Hancock. -- This organ was relocated from the church's previous structure in the predecessor town to Roanoke--Big Lick, Virginia. It remained in the new church until about 1926, when a used residence pipe organ was obtained as its replacement. -Database Manager
2012-08-13 - Updated through online information from T. Daniel Hancock. -- In 1903, a water motor was added to the organ. In 1917, the water motor failed, and an Electro Orgel blow motor was installed. In 1934, water from a stopped gutter seriously damaged the pneumatics of the organ; discussion of a new instrument begins in 1935, but in 1935 the vestry declined to spent any money on a new organ until other debt was retired. In 1940, the Rector declared a new organ to be more important than debt retirement, but it wasn't until several years later, when that same Rector died, that memorial funds given in his honor paved the way for Aeolian-Skinner Opus 1093, which replaced this organ of unknown make. It is also unknown what happened to this organ when the new instrument was installed. -Database Manager
