Notes

2013-11-23 - Organ relocated without any change. Identified by T. Daniel Hancock, based on personal knowledge of the organ. -- This organ was a used theater pipe organ from the city or region, which was probably procured through church and session member Mr. Wilhoit's connection with local moving picture theaters, many of which at that time were disposing of their theater organs. The organ may have been installed by another session member, Mr. Roberts, a local contractor. The instrument was never found to perform satisfactorily from a tonal or mechanical standpoint in the comparatively small volume of the old Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, and in fact, it quit working by the end of 1931, and was replaced early in 1932 by Wicks. After some difficulty, arrangements were made with Mr. Wilhoit to suspend indefinitely the remaining payments on the failed organ. -Database Manager
