Notes

2014-02-22 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by William Dunklin, using information found in David Junchen The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, an Illustrated History, p.662. -- Opus 1363 was a Style 135, 2 manuals, 4 ranks (Flute, String, Vox Humana and Trumpet) and a piano. The style 135 utilized a "piano console" rather than Wurlitzer's more famous horseshoe design. The piano console's lower manual was 85 keys and also played the piano stop, the upper keyboard had 61 keys. The pedal keyboard was standard 32 keys. Stops tabs were arranged in a straight rail above the upper keyboard. The Franklin Theatre closed in the 1970s. It still stands though significantly altered. The fate of the organ is unknown. -Database Manager
