2015-02-16 - Altered and relocated existing organ. Identified by Nicholas Renkosik, using information from this web site: barton.theatreorgans.com. -- Widely known as "the Beast in the Basement", the 2 manual, 4 rank Wurlitzer from the Lake Theatre (originally established as the El Tovar Theatre) in Crystal Lake, Illinois, was acquired by Leon Berry in the early 1950's. It is said to have taken up such a large amount of room in Berry's basement, that he had to eliminate the cold air return duct from his furnace. After Berry's passing, the instrument was sold to an individual in Arizona. -Database Manager
