2015-04-23 - Altered and relocated existing organ. Identified by James R. Stettner, based on personal knowledge of the organ. -- The original home of the organ is not presently known. As originally built it was a 4-rank unit organ with Open Diapason, Gedeckt, Salicional, and Dulciana. It was likely a "Petite Ensemble" model. As it existed at Carr Chapel it was 7 ranks. From photos, the added ranks appear to be another String rank (Voix Celeste?), an open wood Melodia, and what appears to be an Aeolian-style free-reed Clarinet. But it is not known if it was moved to Carr Chapel as a 7-rank organ - or was enlarged to 7 ranks for the Carr Chapel installation. A report written by student Noah Cahan in the spring thru fall of 2008 indicates that the console was missing. He also states, "The organs present installation is haphazard and non-professional. The story of its installation by students seems to be true." The 1916 Zephyr blower was installed in what was a bathroom. The chapel itself is a 1952 product of Mies van der Rohe of the Bauhaus School of Design. It was slated for a restoration in 2011, but the organ was to be removed. ... The subsequent disposition of the organ is not known. -Database Manager
