2015-11-29 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by John McCraney, based on personal knowledge of the organ.<br><br>The Swell and part of the Pedal are in the original chamber (opening into the nave and the chancel with exposed violone facade pipes) behind the choir on the Gospel side of the divided chancel, with the console on the Epistle side. The Great is exposed and divided over an ambulatory behind the altar that connects vestry rooms; the two-section pipe arrangement reflects the curve of the rose window over the altar.<br><br>The organ apparently is still in use (may need renovating by now); the open console has been pictured under "Music" on the parish website. The parish is one of the larger and more active in the diocese.<br><br>The situation of the organ may change because the church building, an attractive stone Gothic building from the 1920s, was constructed so that transepts (and a crossing) can be added where the chancel and sanctuary now are and the chancel enlarged and extended eastward. -Database Manager
