2016-01-04 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by Scot Huntington, using information found in Wurlitzer factory opus list.

The Babcock Theatre opened Christmas Day, 1924, and the contract for a Wurlitzer stock-model Style B was dated Sept. 1, 1927. The theater operated until the 1950s. The organ was eventually sold, and St. James' Episcopal Church in Oneonta, NY, once owned a Style B Wurlitzer relocated "from a theater in Bath", (the Babcock was the only theater in Bath after the Park burned down in 1922).

The Wurlitzer in St. James was relocated unaltered but without any of its original percussions except the Chimes. St. James sold the organ to a private party for their home installation in the mid-1960s and replaced it with an electronic. The current fate of the organ is unknown.
-Database Manager
2016-10-18 - Updated by William Dunklin, using information found in David Junchen, "The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, An Illustrated History" page 677.
Style B was the smallest standard model Wurlitzer with a horseshoe console. It consisted of 2 manuals and pedals, 4 ranks, Flute, Salicional, Vox Humana, Trumpet, pitched and unpitched percussions and "toy counter" in one chamber. The Babcock Theatre opened December 25, 1924. The Wurlitzer was installed in September 1927. Though the Babcock Theatre building still stands, it has not been used as a theatre since the 1950s. The organ was relocated to St. James Episcopal Church, Oneonta, New York at an unknown date. -Database Manager
