Notes

2016-01-04 - Altered and relocated existing organ. Identified by Scot Huntington, based on information learned from a conversation with Sidney Chase.

The organ replaced an 1895 Hook & Hastings, believed to be the organ now in the Congregational-Christian Church in Hardwick, New York. The Babcock Theatre in Bath, New York purchased a Wurlitzer stock-model Style B on September 1, 1927, and was the only theater in Bath after the Park burned down in 1922, and the Babcock remained in business until the 1950s.

The Wurlitzer Style B installed second-hand in St. James was purchased "from a theater in Bath" at an unknown date, and relocated in unaltered condition but without any of its original sound effects or percussions except the Chimes. The organ was sold to a private party for a residence installation in the early to mid-1960s, and was replaced in St. James with an electronic installed at the front of the church, in turn replaced in 1982 with a 2-manual Holtkamp in the rear gallery. The current fate of the Wurlitzer is unknown. -Database Manager
