2018-02-22 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ.
Identified by William Dunklin, citing information from this publication: a vintage postcard.
2 vintage post cards show a substantial pipe organ standing in an alcove, front center behind the choir and chancel. The case is a pipe fence with no upper casework. There are two pipe towers flanking a 2 level center flat and smaller flats outboard of the towers. The console is attached, but in both photos the lid is closed. Contemporary photos of the church (2018) show the congregation still in the same building but the interior significantly modernized. -Database Manager
2020-12-19 - Per the Tabor Iowa Historical Society website this organ was installed in April 1908 at a cost of $2,800. The church interior was gutted by fire in 1945. The exterior survived and a new interior was created. The fire presumably destroyed this organ. Photographs of the church interior seen online in December 2020 show the same chancel arch but no organ stands there. What appear to be an organ grille is visible at minister's right. -William Dunklin
