Notes

2004-10-30 - [This Op. No. on the Steere list at the German Lutheran Church, Norwich, CT.] On OCH for sale list 1996. -Database Manager

2023-04-17 - The Lutherans disbanded some time in the mid-1990s, and the building was sold to a Pentacostal sect and within a few years, to an Hispanic congregation. While they didn't use the organ, it remained in place and barely functional, rife with ciphers and dead notes, as long as the blower continued to function. The Iglesia church appeared inactive through the past seven years. As of winter 2023, the building fell into the hands of a developer, placing the organ's future in grave doubt. A stock-model Steere, the organ occupies a substantial footprint for an instrument of so few ranks. Except for the additional of a blower, the organ is unaltered. -Scot Huntington

2023-04-17 - Contract signed June 6, 1892 for delivery August 1892, cost $800. -Scot Huntington

2023-10-21 - At some point between 2020 and 2022 while the building was empty, thieves broke into the bulding and stole all the metal pipework from the organ, obviously for scrap value. In August 2023, the new developer who acquired the building hopes to turn it into a community center, and wants to restore the organ to playability. Vintage Steere pipework of the appropriate vintage has been located in storage from an unknown source, and will be reinstalled by a local organ enthusiast. The building is in the process of being rewired in the Fall of 2023, and the blower and organ are being reconnected. -Scot Huntington
