2010-11-04 - Updated through online information from Norman Ortiz. -- Having grown up in Port Hueneme I attended the Westminster Presbyterian church growing up, studying piano and organ with E. Burns Taft, the organist for the church for many decades. It was my pleasure during high school to have a key to the sanctuary and to stop by the church on my way home from school to talk with the organ builders and to check in on the progress of the organ build. The instrument was used as soon as the pipes in the great were installed. The swell (probably incorrect terminology) and pedals were installed within the next year. This was my first introduction to a pipe organ and it was a benefit to learn to play on a tracker system.
