Notes

2021-10-14 - From the *1989 OHS Handbook:* "In 1829, according to Huber and Leonard, "an organ was imported." Whether or not the 1829 instrument replaced one already there, we do not know, though Roger Baudier refers to an organ being in the building as early as 1800. Legend has it that a Cavaille-Coll organ was installed at the Cathedral in 1794, but no documentary proof of that has ever been uncovered." In January 1850, after a collapse of a tower during expansion of the cathedral, the organ was damaged. "..."Reinstalling the organ" cost $2,000 (the price suggests that perhaps more was done than just reinstalling it) and the building was dedicated 7 December 1851." -Paul R. Marchesano
