Notes

2023-01-29 - This instrument was formerly the house organ/laboratory for the famed author William H. Barnes. In 1963, Harrision sold his pallatial residence to move into an apartment, and the instrument either sold or given to St. John Fisher in Chicago where it was installed with additional alterations. The stoplist at the time of its installation in Chicago differes from that published in Edition 9 of his iconic book, *The Contemporary American Organ*. S.E. Gruenstein, founder of the AGO, described the organ as "a thoroughbred of mongrel antecedents". Dr. Barnes played the dedication recital on April 19, 1963. -Scot Huntington

William H. Barnes (1963)
St. John Fisher R.C. Church
Chicago, Illinois

Assembled from a spurious collection of pipework, and continually experimented and tinkered with over a 25-year lifespan. Installed and renovated by F.C. Wichlac & Associates, Tellers representatives in the mid-West. Extended or duplexed ranks are not identified in the account, but it can be deduced that the Swell Bourdon and several pedal ranks are either unified or duplexed.
