2023-02-17 - From *The Ottawa Journal *(November 6, 1905): "MacKay Presbyterian Church reopened yesterday when the new pipe organ which has just been installedd was used for the first time. The organ is a beautiful instrument with double keyboard and pedal manual. It is finished in quartered oak and the pipes are handsomely finished in dark rich colors. The instrument is a magnificent addition to the church. Mr. J. A. Smith, the talented organist of Bank Street Church, presided at the organ and rendered a number of voluntaries. The organ has a fine timbre and excellent power. It was installed by the Warren Co. of Toronto and is an exceptionally fine instrument ..." With church union, the congregation voted to join the United Church of Canada in 1925. Pipework from this instrument were reused in the church's new Casavant Freres Organ, Op. 2271 (1955). -Andrew Henderson
