2023-02-17 - According to The Daily British Whig (February 18, 1905): "The organ is a Karn-Warren, built and installed by the D. W. Karn Co., Ltd., of Woodstock ... Prof. Doward of Toronto, presented the committee with a specification, which would, in his opinion, meet the need of the church building, from the point of view of musical capacity, and this was submitted for tenders to several of the best builders in Canada. The Karn Company's proposition was regarded by the professor as most satisfactory and was accepted by the board. The organ is a two-manual instrument of the full compass of 61 notes. It has four stops of pipes in both the Great Organ and Swell Organ besides the Bourdon in the pedal organ and is supplied with an unusual number of combination stops. The console js detached and placed in front of the choir, which in the new arrangement of the church is in front of the pulpit. This gives the organist and choir leader the fullest command of his choir. The case of the organ is made of oak and the front pipes finished in blue and brown, touched with silver and gold, which harmonizes perfectly with the chaste colour scheme of the church. The action is tubular pneumatic throughout. The organ embodies a number of improvements, patented by Mr. Warren, and for the first time used in this instrument. The motor is a Ross water motor and is a very compact and beautiful machine. W. H. Harmston has had charge of the work of installing the organ, and had delighted the committee and board not only with the character of his work, but with the phenomenal rapidity with which he executed it. Mr. Harmston will assist the organist, Mr. Beggs, on Sunday, in connection with the opening services. Rechab Tandy, Toronto, will also take part in the service as vocal soloist. On Monday evening the opening recital and concert will take place." The Brock Street Church closed in 1920. -Andrew Henderson
