2023-02-27 - From the *Edmonton Journal* (March 8, 1906): "Mr. Lockwood, expert organ builder for the Karn Organ and Piano So. [sic], Winnipeg, is in the city to supervise the installation of the new pipe organ for McDougall Methodist Church. This is the first pipe organ, to be built in Edmonton. It is expected the organ to be completed in two weeks. Mr. Frank Wrigley, the eminent Canadian organist, has been engaged to give the opening recital." The inaugural recital was performed on March 27, 1906. According to the *Edmonton Journal* (October 17, 1912) after the building of the new McDougall Methodist Church and installation of the new Karn-Warren organ in that building, the original instrument was moved to Metropolitan Methodist Church with an inaugural recital performed by Prof. Hunt of McDougall Methodist Church on October 15, 1912: "The Metropolitan Methodist Church was filled last Tuesday night on the occasion of the public recital of the first pipe organ to be installed on the South Side of the city. As Professor V. P. Hunt brought forth the melodious harmony from the big instrument, he no doubt felt quite at home, as it is the same organ which he played many times in the old McDougall Church on the north side; and it is just as good as ever, in fact, it seems to suit the capacious auditorium of the Metropolitan Church even better than the old McDougall Church." -Andrew Henderson
