2023-02-27 - According to *The Weekly Expositor* (Brantford, June 1, 1888): "St. Basil's Church has long felt the want of a new organ to replace the old music box in use, and for some months organ builder Brown of this city has been at work on the construction of one to meet that want. Sunday the new instrument was opened with a grand musical flourish and though yet unfinished as to voicing and the introduction of certain stops, is likely to prove a capital instrument. The organ is double bank, and a pedal of two octaves, and has the following stops: Piccolo, 2 feet; Harmonic, Flute, Principal, Cremona, 4 feet; Dulciana, Violin Diapason, Unison Bass, Stop Diapason, Hautboy, and Melodia, all 8 feet; Bourdon, 16 feet; Pedal to Swell, Pedal to Great Organ, Octave Coupler, Swell to Great, Tremolo, and some seven accessory stops. The organ is built on either side of the handsome window in the choir gallery, and presents a very handsome appearance ..." -Andrew Henderson
