2023-04-29 - The "new" organ at Hillside Presbyterian Church is the culmination of a project that spans a period of over forty years. When the organ components began to fail and suffer age-related problems, the church looked towards many considerations to replace or rebuild the organ. The basic corpus of the organ tonally worked well for choral and congregational accompaniment. The original organ was conceived as a temporary organ by church member and Atlanta organ builder Mr. Dwight Peck. Some years following his death, our firm was contacted and looked at this project with compassion towards retaining the his dream of a pipe organ in the church. In the very best form of individual and corporate charity, several members of our staff and management offered significant items to the church including the console, facade pipes, chimes and several ranks of pipework. The organ was rebuilt with several new ranks, a new flamed copper facade, a replacement console, and several new ranks to expand the organ from its previous size and tonal range. The mechanical systems were thoroughly renovated with new chests, new framing and new winding. We are very proud to have been a part of keeping the vision of an Atlanta organ builder alive by continuing to have a pipe organ used in worship at Hillside Presbyterian Church. -Patricia Conley
