Notes

2023-07-02 - This entry represents the refurbishing, tonal expansion, and installation of a used organ. The original builder is Hook & Hastings - built in 1916 as Opus 2371 for Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, and stored in Newcastle, Maine for many years after its removal before being sold to Good Shepherd. It was brokered through the Organ Clearing House. -Jim Stettner

2025-03-31 - This entry represents the installation of a new organ using the complete corpus of 1916 Hook-Hastings pipework from Opus 2371, as received from the Organ Clearing House. Also included was the mahogany casework impost molding (retained for use with new mahogany casework) and a few Hook-Hastings pedal windchests (not retained). The instrument is entirely new mechanically, with new electro-pneumatic slider windchests in the Blackinton style for all manual flues, and electro-pneumatic unit windchests for reeds and pedal stops. The pipework was meticulously restored, and the organ specification was augmented via the addition of several ranks of pipes, many of which were carefully sourced from other period instruments. A new console was constructed of mahogany in the Hook-Hastings style of the middle 1910's. The facade was stripped and finished with gold metal lacquer, and treated with a gold-leaf stencil design. Ranks added in the 2024 work by Greenleaf include (Great) 16' Bourdon, 2-2/3' Twelfth, 2' Fifteenth, (Swell) 8' Viole Celeste, 2' Harmonic Piccolo, 2-2/3' Cornet III, 16' Fagotto, and (Pedal) 8' Violoncello. -T. Daniel Hancock
