2023-08-14 - From the *Nanaimo Daily News* (December 21, 1901): "The new pipe organ for St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church arrived last night, and will be installed at once. It was expected at the time the organ was arranged for that it would be in place before this, but circumstances have intervened to prevent the organ builders laying it down here earlier. The organ is built by Karn & Co. of Woodstock, Ont., one of the best known Canadian firms. It has been got at a cost of $2,000, and when in place will be a great accessory to the service of song in the Church. As required additions in the way of pipes and stoops can be made to it. At first it will be run by hand but the power may be changed at any time ... The action is tubular pneumatic throughout. Mr. Stahl, who is to have charge of the placing of the organ, is expected this evening. He comes here direct from New Westminster, where he has been installing a similar organ in the Methodist Church." The organ was opened with a recital on New Year's Eve 1901. -Andrew Henderson
