2024-10-21 - This instrument was offered for sale in 1894 by St. Luke's Cathedral but evidently moved to their Parish Hall when a new Norman & Beard instrument was installed in 1895. According to The Evening Mail (Halifax, March 14, 1916): "There has just arrived in the city the new organ for the J. Wesley Smith church, and it will be immediately installed, the old organ to which an interesting history attaches, having been purchased by All Saints Bedford. It might thus be said to be returning to its "first love," having been originally purchased in England for St. Luke's. After 'doing service' there for years, it was purchased by the late J. Wesley Smith, by whom it was presented to the Charles Street church, having first been used in the old building and then in the new." The organ no longer appears to be extent at All Saints Anglican Church, Bedford, NS. -Andrew Henderson
