Notes

2024-11-18 - From The Daily Times (Moncton, NB, March 21, 1883): "An organ recital is to be held at the opening of the new organ in the Methodist Church, Dorchester, Good Friday, March 23rd, at 8 o'clock in the evening ...Mr. F. C. D. Bristowe will be the organist. The organ was built by Messrs. Greenwood, Paine & Westmore, of St. John, and is said to be the first church organ wholly constructed in the Maritime provinces." In an October 5, 1883 account in the same journal, "Messrs. Paine & Co." is listed as the builder of the instrument, and that "competent judges speak very highly of its tone and general capacity." -Andrew Henderson
