2025-04-20 - From The Democrat & Chronicle (September 21, 1884): "After ten days of hard work, W. H. Odell and his assistants, the work of putting up the new organ in the Unitarian Church was practically completed yesterday, although it will be Tuesday before the finishing touches are over. Professor Van Lear tested it yesterday, and, although not yet tuned, it was evident that it is one of the finest in the city in point of tone and power. It has ten stops on the swell manual, eleven on the great organ, three on the pedals and four couplers. Besides these it has eight composition knobs on the great organ and a patent reversible coupler, and also a balance swell. There are 1,650 pipes in the entire organ and it is provided with a number of improvements. Among these is a novel and ingenious air indicator, showing the amount of air in the bellows. A Jaques water motor will operate the bellows, although it is arranged to work by hand power if necessary." -Andrew Henderson
