2005-10-20 - Rebuild of 1929 Wangerin Organ in St. Vibiana Church. Parts of this organ incorporated in Dobson Op. 75 (2003), Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. -Database Manager

2007-07-09 - Updated through on-line information from James R. Stettner. -- I examined the organ in 1995. Housed in case of 1929 Wangerin. Six divisions: Great, Swell, Choir, Solo, String, & Pedal. Chancel Great and Chancel Swell prepared-for with 10 blank drawknobs each. String division enclosed with Solo, and coupled via Solo couplers. Prepared-for stops: Gt: III Cymbale; Ped: IV Mixture; and Ch: Zymbelstern. Some Wangerin ranks retained. The two Pedal 32' flue stops are electronic 12-note extensions. -Database Manager

2012-11-19 - Updated through online information from Jeff Scofield. -- The cathedral sustained extensive structural damage during the 1994 Northridge earthquake; the Archdiocese was already considering a much larger building, so saw no sense in repairing the old cathedral; in order to stop the Archdiocese from demolishing the historic old cathedral, the City of Los Angeles took over the building in exchange for giving the Archdiocese a large plot of land next to the 101 Freeway as a place for the new cathedral; the relatively-new Austin was parted out, with parts used in the Dobson in the new cathedral; the deconsecrated cathedral was purchased by a private party, preserved and retrofitted and now used as an event space called Vibiana. -Database Manager

2016-09-03 - Updated through online information from Jelil Romano. <br>Austin built a new organ in 1989 for St. Vibiana's Cathedral, reusing much of the old 1929 Wangerin pipework in the new organ, including the entire String Organ. The organ has been removed as the cathedral was closed. Some of the pipework is now in Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in Los Angeles.<br><br>The Austin Organ at St. Vibiana's, as it was originally heard in the Cathedral, can be heard at: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jelil+romano%2C+St.+Vibiana%27s+organ -Database Manager
