2017-05-05 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ.
Identified by James R. Stettner, listing this web site as a source of information: https://saintjosephkingston.org/our-history.
The building which became St. Joseph's Church was originally built as The Reformed Protestant Dutch Church of Kingston. They built a new edifice in 1852 and the old church became the Kingston Armory. This was acquired 'secretly' (due to anti-Catholic sentiment) in 1867. It seems likely that the old organ was intact and acquired by the Catholic congregation. In the parish website in the 'History' section thre is a note, " In 1923, a new floor was laid down in the present sacristy, which was used as a chapel. An electric motor was set into the organ to replace the old water motor. The organ was completely overhauled and the stained-glass windows repaired and reloaded." -Database Manager
2024-08-16 - There is no pipe organ in this church and hasn't been one for many years. They have an electronic organ. There is no organ case / facade. It may have all been removed when they completely redid the interior in the early 1970's -Edwin H Myers Jr
