Notes

2017-05-05 - This entry represents the installation of a used organ is a new home that was altered when it was moved from another location. Identified by James R. Stettner, the builder. This is a 3-rank Moller 'Portable' that was originally built for Mountain View Lutheran Church in Puyallup, Washington. When that congregation built a new church and purchsaed a new Werner Bosch tracker in 1965, the Moller was sold to the Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle; where it was reinstalled by Glenn D. White of Olympic Organ Builders. Tonal changes were made in an effort to make the organ more 'Lutheran'. The original 4' Salicet was cut-down to become a 2' Principal (but never actually put back on-speech properly). The organ was later moved to Issaquah when the LBI purchased the former Providence Heights College. LBI later renamed as Trinity College. The Moller was placed in the Rainier Room which was rented as a worship space by other area churches. The property was sold to City Church of Seattle in 2008 and the Moller was removed to storage by Jim Stettner. It remained in storage at the Pipe Organ Foundation of Mercer Island for a time. Then it was in a storage facility in Shoreline. From there it went to the Puget Sound Pipe Organs shop on Camano Island, WA. and remained there until it was purchased by Christ Episcopal organist, Carl Bradley as a gift to the church. The organ was fully restored mechanically. A replacement string of slightly larger scale was installed where the original Salicet had been. A used 1962 Reuter console originally built for Milliken College in Decatur, Illinois (and subsequently housed in various places) was used rather than the Moller console which was in rough condition. The Reuter also offered the opportunity for an expanded stoplist of 25 speaking stops rather than the traditional 19 of a standard Moller 'Portable.' It was installed in April 2017 at the rear of the church to the left of the window with the console at the front on the right. -Database Manager

NOTES
This organ originally built for the 1904 edifice of Mountain View Lutheran Church
in Puyallup, WA. It was relocated to the Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle in
1965 by Glenn D. White of Seattle with tonal changes.

The original Diapason Conique was revoiced. The original 16-8-4 Gedeckt remained
unchanged. And the original 4' Salicet was cut-down, de-bearded, and revoiced as
a 2' Octave. The stoplist was altered as a result of the tonal changes. The orig-
inal blower was replaced with a new Meidinger blower from Switzerland.

When LBI moved to Issaquah to the former campus of Providence Heights College,
the Möller was moved-along and re-installed in the Rainier Room where it remained
until its removal by Jim Stettner of Puget Sound Pipe Organs in 2008 when LBI
(since renamed Trinity Lutheran College) down-sized and relocated to the old Bon
Marche building in Everett, WA.

The organ was stored for a time at the Pipe Organ Foundation on Mercer Island.
Next, it was in a rented storage facility in Shoreline, Washington. It was
finally moved to the shop of Puget Sound Pipe Organs on Camano Island, Washington
where it remained disassembled until purchased by Carl Bradley – organist at
Christ Episcopal Church in Blaine, WA.

The console is a Reuter console from that firm's Opus 1397 built in 1962 for
Milliken University in Decatur, Illinois. In the 1980's, the organ was moved to
a private residence in Decatur. Later, it was sold to a private party in Olympia
who never got it installed. It was again sold to a private party in Seattle, but
the console was not needed. The console was selected to the Blaine installation
of the Möller because it was newer than the Möller console, and also afforded
the opportunity to both enlarge and re-specify the stoplist.

The organ was installed in Blaine on April 27, 28, and 29, of 2017.
